Tracers (2014) PG-13

Taylor Lautner (The Twilight Saga: New Moon),  Adam Rayner (The Task), Marie Avgeropoulos (The 100)

An over-extended bike messenger is intrigued when a pretty parkour expert wrecks his bike and buys him a new one.  After tracking her down he finds himself caught up in a world of crime and can't see a way out.

While normally I enjoy watching parkour action, and have no objection to watching criminals as the "good" guys, this movie seemed to imply that everyone that matters is a criminal, and the parkour pushed the boundaries of believability.  It's one thing to be hyper-aware of your environment, it's another thing to be able to jump blindly into a space and know that something is going to be there when you've never navigated it before.

All the movement looked over-rehearsed, and that's not what it's supposed to be about.

Beyond that, the plot was idiotic...  Lautner's character's refusal to ask his new boss for an advance was stupid, stubborn lunacy... especially if his landlady was that important to him.  Honestly, the seamstress and her son could have been left out of the entire movie, as they were for the last third.

There was only one count for this movie... a needle drop during the "bank" robbery chase sequence... but otherwise it was unremarkable.  I give this a three out of five stars.  If the athleticism had looked more spontaneous, the ending just a little to short and neat, and the plot been tweaked a bit to be more believable, it might have fared better.
