One Small Hitch (2013)

Josh and Molly create a fake engagement to make a dying man happy... but what happens when the feelings become real?

One Small Hitch is an uncommon thing these days... a rom-com that doesn't ruin the romance with gross-out humor, vulgar behavior for the sake of humor, or random oddball plot points so that it can be called quirky. It's just
normal people in a not-so-normal situation.

Josh and Molly are both traveling from LA to Chicago for Molly's mother's wedding.  They both manage to break up with their SO's the night of their flight, and when Josh's mother calls to check on his travel progress and lets it slip that his father is dying of cancer, he makes a snap decision to tell his father that he's engaged to make him happy.  They're old friends, and they've known each other a long time.  His best friend is her older brother.  His large Jewish family and her huge Catholic family already know and love each other

What follows is what you'd typically expect in this Three's Company scenario, but that doesn't mean it isn't a cute, fun, and romantic ride.

There was also some gorgeous knitwear... mostly in Molly's funky hats, and a few sweaters.  I spent a few good minutes trying to recreate a reverse-stockinette cap with seed-stitch diamonds in my head.

Seven laugh out loud moments.  One holy crap moment, and an eyeroll at the girlfriend flirting with the cute doctor.  I mean, wow, that was cliche.  Otherwise this was a perfect romantic date movie that hits all the right notes... assuming the wedding bells won't scare him away.

With a DVD price point at under $10, this is perfect to add to your romance collection.  I give this a rare five out of five.
