End Day (2005) NR

As a scientist travels from London to New York, we are shown four possible ways the Earth could end.

Mostly comprised of sensationalist drivel, End Day uses a "Groundhog Day" approach to illustrate
four doomsday scenarios that some believe will cause the destruction of life as we know it.  To be honest, the only one I found even remotely believable was the pandemic, and possibly the giant meteor.

A tsunami that will wipe out 3 miles of New England coastline?  That's not Earth-ending.  That's just disastrous for Washington.  I think the rest of the world will be just fine.  And the particle accelerator?  Well that's just idiotic.  Scared peasants afraid of a flashlight because they're all carrying lanterns.

Some bits of this movie were quite clever... a car in the first scenario ending up being the main character's vehicle in scenario three, etc.  However I did not care for the scientist showing up constantly on news reports, magazine covers, and newspapers.  We get it, he's the scientist involved in turning on the particle accelerator... eventually.  The bit where he was constantly lifting and putting down the newspaper he was reading that had his face on the front page?  Obnoxious.

There was one count for the entire film, and that was an eyeroll for a shot of the scientist leaving in the cab and we see that the movie theater behind him is showing "Groundhog Day".  Otherwise, this film didn't inspire a lot of emotion one way or the other, with the exception of parents being very careless with their children in the middle of a crisis.

Okay background noise for crafting, but it might be difficult to follow if you're only using audio.  It is also extremely short... less than an hour long... so at least if you hate it, it won't be for long.

I gave it a three out of five stars.  I didn't hate it, but it didn't really move me much either.
